ADAS calibration
Precise and Fast Calibration of Windscreens with Built-in CamerasADAS Calibration (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Calibration) is a crucial safety procedure that ensures the proper functioning of all advanced driver assistance systems, such as automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, Lane Assist, and obstacle detection systems.
Cameras and sensors enabling these systems are most often mounted on the windshield, so after any replacement, repair, or adjustment of the glass, recalibration is necessary.
If calibration is not performed according to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications, the system may provide inaccurate information, react late, or fail entirely, directly compromising the safety of the driver, passengers, and other road users.
Glass Service, as a certified partner of the AGE Group, uses the latest equipment and software for ADAS calibration, ensuring that each system functions accurately, in line with factory standards, and with maximum reliability.
Why ADAS Calibration is Necessary
ADAS systems act as the “eyes and ears” of modern vehicles. They assist the driver in timely responses and help prevent potential accidents. Even minimal misalignment of a camera or sensor can result in incorrect readings.
Calibration is required:
- After windshield replacement.
- After repairing damage near a camera.
- Following an accident, impact, or body vibration.
- When vehicle height is altered (e.g., suspension, shocks, tires).
- After any repair to the camera or sensor systems.
Without proper calibration, the ADAS system may misjudge distances, fail to detect pedestrians, delay automatic braking, or disable lane departure warnings. Therefore, ADAS calibration is considered a mandatory safety procedure after every windshield replacement or repair.
Types of ADAS Calibration
Depending on the vehicle and technology, there are two main calibration methods:
Static ADAS Calibration: Performed under controlled conditions in a service center using specialized panels, lasers, and optical devices to precisely position the camera. Static calibration applies to over 70% of vehicles and provides micrometer-level accuracy.
Dynamic ADAS Calibration: Performed during driving, under controlled conditions along a specified route, allowing sensors and cameras to adjust to real road and traffic conditions. This method is recommended for specific vehicle brands according to manufacturer guidelines.
In both cases, Glass Service uses certified equipment and specialized software to ensure precise system adjustments in full compliance with factory specifications.
ADAS Calibration Process at Glass Service
The ADAS calibration process at Glass Service follows strict technical protocols and includes:
-
Diagnostics and error reading: All active and passive sensors are checked using diagnostic tools.
-
Setup of calibration equipment: Special targets, lasers, and panels are positioned according to the vehicle and camera specifications.
-
System calibration: Software communicates with the ECU and adjusts sensors to factory values.
-
Test drive and final check: System functionality is tested in real conditions to confirm detection accuracy and response.
-
Certification: A formal certificate is issued confirming that the ADAS system is fully safe and operational.
The process usually takes 45–90 minutes, depending on the vehicle type and system complexity.

Frenquently Asked Questions
ADAS - ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANT SYSTEMS, is practical assistance to the driver through the complex system of equipment on the vehicle. This includes assistance with parking, following lines on the road, recognition of traffic signs and warnings, maintaining a distance between vehicles, assistance with sudden braking, etc.
ABSOLUTELY. The recalibration of the ADAS system becomes an integral part of the glass assembly and directly affects the functionality of the vehicle and the safety of all road users.
At the customer's explicit request that he does not want recalibration, a special document is signed, and GLASS SERVICE disclaims responsibility for any problem when using the vehicle.
There is STATIC and DYNAMIC recalibration.
For the STATIC recalibration of the ADAS system, a special device is used that recognizes the new position of the camera on the vehicle window and adjusts the new parameters in software.
For DYNAMIC recalibration of the ADAS system, it is necessary for the vehicle to be in motion for a short time during which it is connected to a special device that adjusts ADAS.
Recalibration takes up to 45 minutes.
In most cases, it is possible to recalibrate the ADAS system. However, with new vehicles it happens that they are "locked" at the factory, so in that case it is necessary to visit a specialized authorized service.
Also, recalibration cannot be successful, if there are hidden anomalies in the software (artificially hidden errors), failure of the control system or the suspension system. The user of the vehicle is informed about all this before the recalibration.
ADAS system recalibration is performed by CERTIFIED technicians, who have undergone training on the most modern devices that we normally use at GLASS SERVICE.
